Flow of red.

I guessing you all are getting some hints about what I am going to write about. Today's article is about periods. I am hoping you all read the whole article. Without further ado let's start talking about periods.

It's a cycle that appears once a month sometimes considered impure and sometimes celebrated. A woman is a source of strength for various reasons. History has it that periods were considered holy and women were worshipped as this appeared no less than a godly characteristic. There are temples like Kamakhya. Ever since the vagina of Sati has fallen on this earth, this place is considered holy. To everyone's surprise, this stone menstruates every month and special pooja is kept in honour for it. History taught us that periods are not impure. Coming back to reality. Now let me ask you a question.

Are you okay to talk about periods in front of anyone?

Not always, not everywhere, not every time right? Personally, even I couldn't talk about periods to my parents but there is more to this. Eventually, I became familiar with these terms and yes time has indeed changed. We are free to discuss it with anyone and anywhere but what if we were not given the knowledge of it at all.

Though there is a slow change in the society as it is accepting periods but it's a SLOW change. According to NDTV, we come to know that 70% of menstruating women consider themselves as dirty. Why?

Not just rural areas even Urban areas. Women are have often told to keep their problems to themselves and from this, we conclude that "Periods are a taboo in India" but how can we change it? There is more problems in rural areas. Women usually are considered impure and dirty. They are commanded to stay in another house. Many girls drop out of school due to periods and not having good toilets and sanitary materials. This is the case of India in 2020 also.

Change can still take place. In recent years, we are understanding the need for talking about women's period through various mediums. Films like Pad-Man entered Bollywood, various NGOs started spreading awareness for this issue.

Here are some famous myths about periods.

"The pain of a period is ‘just like’ anything you’ve experienced."

"Period blood is dirty blood."

Periods are a natural process inside us. It is okay to accept it. It's time we realize that CHANGE starts with YOU. Avoid these myths and achieve greater in life. Even history considered periods pure than why can't we consider it pure now? Talk to the people you feel comfortable with about periods and lastly be helpful to the person who needs you to help them.
