2020- The Colossal Reconstruct.

2020, The year in which it was predicted that there’ll be flying cars, cyborgs, Artificial Intelligence everywhere but look where we’re at. These couple of months have been like a wild roller coaster with unexpected loops and turns. All of us can agree 2020 is one of the worst years that this generation has met with. Well, according to us, this year has just been a blessing in disguise.

The past couple of months have been an anomaly. We’ve faced several challenges.

This year has been volatile. We started 2020 with a bang. In January tensions arose between the United States and North Korea, World War 3 was about to happen because of this but luckily didn’t happen. President Trump’s impeachment process began on the 16th of Jan Moving onto February- the devastating Australian bushfire that started in June 2019 has burnt over 18 million hectares of land, killing 24 people and taking away the lives of around half a billion animals. Yes, you read correctly HALF A BILLION Animals. This was similar to the Amazon rainforest fires which have gone away from the limelight, but as you’re reading this article the rainforest is still burning. Commencing on February 1 the UK began the process of Brexit. On March 11 the World Health Organisation declared the Novel Coronavirus as a Global Pandemic which resulted in mass hysteria all around the world. India imposed a 21-day lockdown on March 25. By March end around half the world had imposed lockdown and the Australian bushfire stopped. April started off with an unpleasant surprise with President Trump announcing that the US Strategic National Stockpile is almost depleted amid widespread shortages of medical equipment to fight Coronavirus,6.6 million filed for unemployment in the US, the world crossed ONE MILLION cases on the second, on the fifth UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson tested positive for COVID-19 and was admitted into the hospital, On the fourteenth PM Modi announced that the lockdown in India will be extended till the third of May, Canada’s worst mass murder shooting occurred on the eighteenth. On May 1 Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced a ban on 1500 types of assault-style weapons vis-à-vis the April 18 mass murder shooting. The 25th of May George Floyd was killed. On June 2 a new outbreak of Ebola killed 5 people in the Democratic Republic of Congo. On June 3 The police officers who were involved in the George Floyd case were charged with murder. The 10th of June was the day where the statues of Christopher Columbus and Jefferson Davis were removed because of the #Blacklivesmatter movement or the #BLM as some of you may call it. On June 12 African-American Rayshard Brooks was shot while protesting.

On June 14 actor Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide because he was apparently suffering from depression for the past few months. On June 16 at least 20 Indian soldiers were killed in the 1st deadly clash on the Chinese Indian border. On the seventeenth of June the former police officer who shot Rayshard Brooks in Atlanta charged with his murder and aggravated assault and the first major breakthrough in treating coronavirus COVID-19 using steroid dexamethasone announced by Oxford University. This is what all of us have faced together till now :)

You may think that we may be vacuous if we are telling you this but this year-2020, a year which caused the human race to scourge has been an eye-opener and a blessing in disguise. Why if you ask?

We unequivocally want to make sure why we think this year has been a blessing in disguise and an eye-opener. If the Coronavirus is said to be a bio-weapon, or bio-weapons as deadly as this one can be created for bio-warfare. If this is the new method or mode of warfare then the good news as many important technologies such as the Internet, MRIs, Radar, Sonar, Communication technology, Helicopters, Commercial Flights, Fibre Optics and Satellite launching capability all of these were catalyzed by the wars. I think that research and medicine, the ability to control epidemics and pandemics, the ability to have more and better health infrastructures will be a fallout and outcome of this pandemic and that is good news anyway. We do not have to wait for a Bio-War for us to know that our national health infrastructure has to be given more attention to. People have become more sanitised too due to the coming of this virus. They maintain social distancing, wash their hands before going out and after coming home, before eating and after eating.

It was on the 25th of May that we found out that racism hasn't been eradicated. The police in America treat swarthy people as if they’re monsters, they are violent with them. The murder of George Floyd created mass hysteria throughout the United States and in some countries around the world. The US was rioting. What happened created a Pandora’s box of violent protests. I feel what Derek Chauvin did was ignoble and inhumane. He killed George Floyd. He was racist. He didn’t have any mercy. This incident makes my blood boil with wrath. People started to protest and riot. They looted shops. I feel that people took these protests and riots as a ploy in order to loot things and cause a ton of damage. This is very disturbing to watch. Although George Floyd’s murder created a groundswell against racism and opened our eyes, it also showed how greedy people are. I feel that all of us need to reflect on this and we need to undergo gentrification.

All of us were sad on the 14th of June as Sushant Singh Rajput- one of Bollywood's talented actors passed away. He committed suicide. None of us knew that he was going to take such an extreme step. It’s very clear that his mental health was deteriorating day by day. We all need to make sure that we’re mentally fit ourselves. If someone close to you or someone who you know is going through depression it is your duty to make them feel okay and make them heartened. Let them unburden themselves on you. A person’s mind is fragile. One can look happy from outside and from the inside they may be in deep pain and would below. If you’re feeling depressed or low- go talk to your friends. They’re the people who can help you.

“Is justice served to the one who is in the most need of it? What is the next thing humanity is waiting for? We have become so evil that we have forgotten about the person’s feelings and how we are blindly just hurting people. HATE when we hear it suddenly the atmosphere changes and thick clouds of sadness are cast upon us. Well people say HATE is a very strong emotion and then themselves use the 10 to 20 times a day. We all are facing problems either small or big but still they are problems and now it's time we fight in together. ” Here is a short thought.

What have they done to me? I am feeling suffocated yet I can’t give up my life. People depend on me. I am already dead. This is not how I thought the world is going to work. This is not what I dreamt about. I hear each and everyone who is in pain. I hear them cry. I don’t have an option but to stay silent.

This brutality, these threats are drowning me. I can’t speak though I hear everyone’s voice. In this world of rape, racism. ‘I AM DROWNING.’ Being the mother of all I care. I care that my daughters and sons are screaming and crying in disgust. I care that in this advanced world people still care about color.

YOUR,

MOTHER EARTH.

Ironically, the Chinese word for crisis is a combination of the words ‘danger’ and ‘opportunity’.2020 is no different. It has the potential to cause groundbreaking change. We’re in this together and we’ll come out of this together. This will pass. We all know that this is not a good time of the year. We have faced so much together and crossed so many dangers. If we all stay together in this and stop hating, discriminating and cursing each other, it’s time we unite as one and fight every obstacle together. Let’s change the “I” to “WE”.

Thank You!
