A Thousand Splendid Suns: Does Love Always Have a Place?

I am always open to reading different sorts of books. I often get bored if I don't have anything to read. I started reading this book last week. It took at least a week to read this book, and another three days to digest it. This was my first time stepping out of my comfort zone.

The story is written by none other than the brilliant author Khaled Hosseini, who has written the award-winning gem: The Kite Runner. Coming back to the book. The primary setting of the story is in the streets of Kabul, Kolba and Herat. The book has beautifully expressed the war. The book narrates the story of two powerful women Mariam and Laila. Mariam is the daughter of Jalil who owns a cinema in Herat and has abandoned both his daughter and mother. Jalil is caring by heart and usually comes to visit Mariam. A sudden twist takes place in the story which leaves Mariam distraught and she agrees to marry a man older than her. Fast forward to two decades later, shows the prepossessing love story of Laila and Tariq. Suddenly, Laila life takes a massive turn in which she agrees to marry unwillingly. Amidst this Mariam and Laila develop a mother and daughter bond for each other.

The story is realistic fiction and is one of it's kind. I think it is worth your time. The way Khaled Hosseini made the character with small details and the way he has expressed the love story between Laila and Tariq makes you imagine every situation they have been in. Get your copies now!
