N: What is your community Xceedibles all about? S: People who demonstrate great leadership qualities can inspire those around them to accomplish amazing things. World over there is a short supply of leaders. Here, our effort, through the Xceedibles Leadership Community is to bridge that gap. Teenagers learn techniques and embrace behaviors that become an extension of their personality. They benefit in a way that they never miss an opportunity to lead again! N: What is this word "Xceedible"? What is your thought behind this?
S: Well, once during my stint in the corporate world, a very senior and well qualified professional walked up to me after the completion of a massive project. He said, "Sandhya! You have the ability to help people perform beyond their ability" This was a huge compliment and it kept looping in my head. So when the time came to choose a name for my training and development venture, picking up the word "Exceedible" - it means the ability to perform beyond expectations - came very naturally to me. So I have named my venture Xceedible Leadership Solutions and we community members are "Xceedibles" N: When and how did you think about forming a community group?
S:As a coach, I was acutely aware that my students would need several follow-up sessions. Leadership development is a life-long commitment and it is possible to get disengaged and succumb to the temptation of giving up. When I thought deep about this, it occurred to me that if an environment is created then it will sustain the focus and motivation for all the youngsters and I must give due credit to them for taking forward the idea. Being in a lock down situation also contributed immensely, I must say! With a huge chunk of time at disposal, the Community idea was like a breath of fresh air for all of us. N: How do you keep in touch with them?
S: Oh! Like any other group, we have a WhatsApp group where we keep sharing, learning and motivating. Besides the formal community meets that are held twice a month, we have informal catch-up sessions on Thursdays. We are pretty much engaged and bonded! N: How has this helped you and your students?
S: We are very excited and charged up about the idea of the Community and the Meets. Its refreshing and gives each individual a feeling of ownership. Our shared values of Credibility, Compassion and Celebration provide great impetus to our behaviors both within the community as well as outside it. By coming together and staying together, it has really helped us create more and more opportunities for ourselves individually as well as for each other to step into our self-confidence and the faith in our abilities to lead. We get to revise and practice leadership behaviors in a fun engaging way! N:What is the future of your community?
S:My vision is to have a community of 1000 members - all young, vulnerable-yet-confident individuals who work on themselves so much that the world sees them achieve their dreams effortlessly.
