Hello everyone! This is my interview with Deeya, who aims to be a model and actress. N: Well hello Deeya! D: Hello. N: Let's talk about your journey! How did you start as a model? D: I’ve always dreamed of becoming a model, since a very young age. I was interested in modelling, being in front of the camera, posing and every aspect of modelling has always excited me a lot. I still think there’s a lot more for me to achieve to become a model. But here I’m trying to get there every day! N: That is great! How has it helped you? D: It has helped me a lot as a person, I wasn’t a very outgoing and a confident person initially. I became more patient too, it is because we sit for an hour or two just to get done with the makeup & getting the perfect shot for the shoot. N: That has taught you a lot then! What difficulties do you face? D: I still face a lot of difficulties in terms of dealing with people. The ability to cope with hatred & criticism is very difficult. Eventually, with time, I started dealing with it positively. I believe people are always going to have something bad to say, all you can do is be yourself. It gets difficult standing in front of the camera for three hours and still not getting the shot you imagined to. Overall, I think modelling is amazing. I have to experience a lot more things to be capable of commenting more on the industry. I’m learning every day! I hope to grow more.
N: Yes indeed, well said. Who inspired you?
D: I think there were a lot of models who inspired me. I loved looking at different models, but someone who inspired me a lot was Urvi Shetty. N: How do you decide on a particular photo-shoot? D: I decide on a particular photo-shoot looking at different aspects of how I’m going to present myself & how much it will teach me something new. Having different experiences with the camera is something that teaches us new things. Example: Shooting at different locations, themed photo-shoots, studio photo-shoots. These are all different ideas of clicking pictures & teaches you how to pose better. N: It's good that you are looking at all of these different aspects. So, Where do you post the pictures? How many followers do you have? D: I post my pictures on social networking sites like Instagram & Facebook. I have 2,200 followers at the moment. I think social media is a good place to share our interests and to connect with more people! N: Now that we are on this topic, Tell us a little bit about your first photo-shoot. D: My first photoshoot was at Maldives, 28 July 2018. It was one of the most memorable days of my life. I was very nervous & honestly didn’t know how to pose. I tried a few poses until I was comfortable with the camera. I smiled, flaunted my dress, gave my best. Since that day, I decided this is what I love doing. N: Wow! Now that note, this is the last question. How have you grown as a model? D: I have grown a lot, I still think there’s so much more for me to achieve to give myself the tag “model”. In terms of growth, I remember doing shoots once or thrice a month, from doing my makeup, shooting wherever I feel like, not scheduled shoots, not knowing how to pose, being nervous in front of the camera to collaborating with people for makeup/photography, deciding onto locations, knowing exactly how to pose, being best friends with the camera & much more. This is a beautiful journey and I can’t wait to learn more every day!️
N: Those words are true, seeing you grow as a model is amazing. It is a great journey and I like a lot of your photo-shoot and I know the process behind the camera and it is hard. All I will say is best of luck for your journey! Thank you, Deeya. D: Thank you, Nirmayee.
